oh hello, friend
Is it hard for you to
FIND THE words to EXPRESS
your emotions?
Yeah? then let me introduce you to a powerful and nearly free tool that might help - JOURNALING
WAIT! DON'T RUN OFF YET!
Listen, I’m the queen of stuffing my feelings. I’m sometimes resilient to a fault. Over the years, I’ve learned to find the language I need to understand my emotions, even though I’m still learning how to process them. The best way I’ve found to put words to our emotions is by writing on paper. Good ole’ pen to the page. It only takes a little time and some effort, but the blank page gets less scary the more you show up to it.
Consider this your invitation to begin journaling today. Through The Journals by Jess journaling community, we talk about all the hard stuff, find ways to process and fight through the woes of grief and loss. I’d love to have you join me!
So grab your favorite pen and notebook and prepare to sweep out all those emotional dust bunnies. I’ve created a guide for you as you begin; or maybe you’ve strayed and need some inspiration to begin again!
I get asked often why I'm so passionate about journaling and the truth is...
I’ve been journaling all my life. I started with a cheap composition notebook and a blue Bic pen, nestled amidst a sea of pillows on my nice warm waterbed. Ahhhh, the 80s! Weren’t they great? You could literally sleep on water…but try getting out of one those darn things. Anywho…back to journaling.
Journaling is something I’ve always turned to, especially during hard times. It was a simple place I could escape the chaos of life and turn to my trusted confidante (that black and white speckled composition book) and sacred space where my thoughts and dreams could unfold without judgment.
As time went on, I picked up my journal and sat it back down throughout the many seasons of life, but always knew it was there in the waiting, anytime I needed a place to unload.
Journaling has helped me through all the crazy teenage fiascos; you know the ones…friendship woes, break-ups, self-confidence (or lack thereof) to later helping me process my grief after losing my brother tragically and both parents to cancer, all before the age of 35. Sprinkle in a pandemic soon after and I had quite a big load to unpack. Journaling has gotten me through it all. It sounds too simple, I know, but it really is so transformative.
Give it a chance! You won’t regret it. Pinky promise.
